Film and TV tourism is understood as the visit to a destination or attraction as a result of the destination being featured on television, video or the cinema screen (Evans, 1997)
In our memory we could think about many examples of places linked to a vision that we have thanks to a film, series or television program:
- Krakow (Poland): The Schindler's List, 1993
- New Zealand: The Lord of the Rings (2001, 2002, 2003)
- Nothing Hill: Notting Hill (1999)
- Scotland: Baveheart (1995)
The impacts of films tourism could be consider as long-term impacts because normally success movie could have a cycle live of 20 years ( some of then more and some less)
Also some of the places develop a marketing strategy that in the majority of the cases starts before the movie comes out (Thailand with the movie "The Beach") other at the same moment and some others later ( it could be the case of Almeria, SPAIN, and the "Spaghetti Western).
Most of the places experiment an increase in the number of tourism, and as a consequence the economy rise, unemployment drop "and they all lived happily ever after..........wait wait wait, let's say: some of then lived happily and other not so much ( the case of the Ta Prohm temple, Angkor, Cambodia)
So along this blog I would try to give you an idea about the positive and negative impacts that could have a film, serie or TV program in different places of after all this process....tourism destination.

Really useful overview about TV and film television. But I must disagree with you about TV and film tourism has a long term impacts as you mentioned on you post. For me, 20 years is not long enough compare to other types of cultural tourism such heritage tourism...
